Chance, painting

Close scrutiny permits you to see that you are knocking on the wrong door. Perhaps you should attempt a different route?
Chance, painting
Brotherhood of the Sun: Rising opens officially July 16th at 5 pm. Several events will occur during its run. Rising will see a rearrangement of my permanent collection with several brand new pieces (paintings, frames, sculpture, with accompanying literature). This arrangement and collection will transform slowly through the month of July and into August until it becomes "Setting" on August 8th. Guest artists/writers/musicians responding to the displayed works will periodically appear on the walls or in live performance.

The opening reception for Academe Obscure is September 12th. For more information on that see this page.

Mid-October will see another rearrangement of the permanent collection and an assortment of masks and props (old and new) out for the season. This will open October 15th. This doesn't have any special name so far, it's just "the Halloween show". Creative, no?

Opening November 12th will be our doll show, "Captured Spirits". This exhibit is devoted to anthropoid figurines as vessels of the soul, or as other Selves we either yearn to attain, or fear and must keep separate from us. Animistic fetishism rather than the rubber pants kind of fetishism. But if you submit a homemade* BJD in tiny vinyl pants with tiny piercings I'll probably show *that* too. I will post this prospectus FINALLY tomorrow.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATION IN THE ABOVE LISTED SHOWS PLEASE EMAIL ME AND DO NOT RESPOND HERE. Yes, you may PM me through LJ, Facebook, Y-Gallery, DeviantArt, or Myspace, you may use AIM, etc. Public inquiries will be deleted unless they are relevant to public matters such as the locations & times of events.

*Specs regarding how much of a piece can be obviously manufactured by a company/source other than one belonging to the artist submitting the work will be carefully laid out.

...and even MORE frames :)

bug love
Made these incidentally while doing the HK frame.

"Sometimes I Identify Far Too Strongly With Richard Upton Pickman", acrylic on panel 2007; frame is cast resin objects on recycled wood with putty and paint, 2009.

"Survivor", acrylic on panel 2008; frame is urethane and epoxy resin, paint on recycled wood.

the guns on these were press-cast from the 1/4 scale Archon Pulse Rifle I made :)

OK. Speaking of Archons, Sheriden is sitting here insisting I build him furniture or a house of some sort because every other one of my dolls has his own room/space/chair/something, but I am going to work on massive oil paintings instead.

He'll just have to wait...

more stuff from the studios this weekend

YES this is a PUBLIC post. I will NOT make a habit of it. If you annoy me in the comments I will baleet you with a quickness. This is ONLY public so people who are FB friends of mine and not on my LJ flist can comment, since FB's java app took a big poo today for me.

I'm posting these photographs (this is my THIRD attempt, grrr) to discuss the concerns involved in suspending my 12+ foot pleather squid outside my gallery in the atrium.

I wanted to put him in the hall near my brother's wooden ship paintings because I thought that would be funny, but he would create a lighting obstruction.

The CEILING of the atrium is reserved for a chandelier-thing-project. The walls of the atrium are going to be painted, but I do have permission to hang the squid.

The squid in question, "Grigori". He is named vaguely after Rasputin. He was made by Kate Lynch, as in The Dreaming and EOS. He is LOVE. He is also IN MY WAY. I gotta whole lotta squid, whole lotta squid...

(in the background? That's the TAC's arcade console, of course!!)

So let's look around my atrium )

Bonus shot of the in-progress canvases on my easel just now...

still more con photos...?

This is a public post, something I never do. Just so you know. I just took so many pictures at the show (mostly from my booth, haha) and I wanted people who aren't on my LJ friends list to be able to see them. Commenting is turned off; if you are in one of the pics and want a large version of it (not like they're super great or anything, but I know how hard it can be to find a pic of your costume sometimes), or want credit for your awesome work etc, email me. Coredump at moritorium dot com, btw. If you decide you want to get to know me, please understand I don't "get to know" people through LJ so well and you are better off adding me on Myspace (mskoi) or Deviantart (vektar). :) Some photographs may be redundant to my regular readers. Sorry! Now that the disclaimer is over with...

I need to start with one of my favorites... the three Black Waltzes!

So awesome! There were a lot of FFIX cosplayers; I wish I could have got shots of them all.

More shots from my booth and from hot pursuits after the cut )

omg public post lol lol wtf

Coffee!
Hi.

As part of my Epic Move Away From Seattle, I am selling a bunch of stuff. To buy any of it, email me or message me on aim (pinging me through facebook or myspace works but I may be very slow to respond); my phone is temporarily dead.

Drawing table, adjustable, great condition. $50 OBO
Longsword, designed after the Witch King's sword from Lord of the Rings, by the prop company that did the gear for the film. With hanging hardware for wall mounting and certificate of authenticity*. $50 OBO

ART a whole freaking lot of it, some under 100$, much not on website. To ask if a specific piece is available or see if I'll adjust a price, just contact me. If you want to see stuff in person, well hell, come to my Goodbye Seattle soiree 11/14/08.

*This sword is effing awesome. I have not had walls strong enough to hang this thing since I lived in White Center. Now I do again, but there's just no place for it in the gallery. And I'd probably stab one of my neighbors.

This was a triumph!
I'm making a note here:
"HUGE SUCCESS!!"

It's hard to overstate
my satisfaction.

Aperture Science:
We do what we must
because we can.

For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.

But there's no sense crying
over every mistake.
You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake.
And the science gets done.
And you make a neat gun
for the people who are
still alive.

I'm not even angry...
I'm being so sincere right now-
Even though you broke my heart,
and killed me.

And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you!

Now, these points of data
make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time!
So I'm GLaD I got burned-
Think of all the things we learned-
for the people who are
still alive.

Go ahead and leave me...
I think I'd prefer to stay inside...
Maybe you'll find someone else
to help you?
Maybe Black Mesa?
That was a joke! HAHA!! FAT CHANCE!!

Anyway this cake is great!
It's so delicious and moist!

Look at me: still talking
when there's science to do!
When I look out there,
it makes me GLaD I'm not you.

I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are
still alive.
And believe me I am
still alive.
I'm doing science and I'm
still alive.
I feel fantastic and I'm
still alive.
While you're dying I'll be
still alive.
And when you're dead I will be
still alive.

Still alive.

Still alive.
